Garhshankar, July 27 – The work of grabbing farmers’ land, which was not done by the central government, is now being done by the Punjab government in the name of land pooling, which the people of Punjab will never tolerate. This was stated by Shiromani Akali Dal senior leader Jathedar Iqbal Singh Khera while talking to the media after a meeting of Akali workers in Garhshankar.
He said that Punjab is an agricultural state which produces 70 percent of the food grains in the central pool. Big corporate houses want to end this prosperity of Punjab with the help of the government. He said that the five five marla Sewa Kendras built for the convenience of the people in the villages during the Akali-BJP government did not work under the AAP government and how will they cultivate about 60 thousand acres of land.
He said that if the Akali-BJP government in Kharar could not settle the 600 acres of land it acquired in time, then it is impossible to settle the remaining 60,000 acres. He said that land was acquired for setting up a telephone factory in village Boda of Garhshankar, which is still lying there even after many decades. He demanded that the land pooling scheme be withdrawn from the government. He said that if the policy is not withdrawn, a large-scale struggle will be launched.
Regarding mining, he said that during the Akali-BJP government, the Aam Aadmi Party had maligned the government a lot in the name of mining, but now sand and gravel are being obtained at even higher prices and the government is sleeping. Overloaded tippers are taking lives of people every day but no action is being taken. He said that tippers should be plying for development but it is extremely wrong to ply by violating road rules.
