Khatkar Kalan (Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar), March 23- Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today said that the state government is making determined efforts to realise the dreams of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Rajguru and Shaheed Sukhdev. He said that no stone will be left unturned for this noble cause. Addressing a state-level function here today on the occasion of the martyrdom day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Rajguru and Shaheed Sukhdev, the Chief Minister said that this is not a political function but this important occasion is to pay tribute to the great martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the protection of their motherland.

Addressing a state-level function here today on the occasion of the martyrdom day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Rajguru and Shaheed Sukhdev, the Chief Minister said that this is not a political function but this important occasion is to pay tribute to the great martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the protection of their motherland.
He said that the state government is making sincere efforts to spread the legacy of these great martyrs for our future generations. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government has decided to establish Shaheed Bhagat Singh Medical College at a cost of Rs 300 crore as a humble effort to pay tribute to these martyrs.
The Chief Minister reminded that due to the efforts of the state government, the Mohali airport has been named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh. He said that no previous government made any effort to name this airport after the great martyr, but after assuming power, his government gave it the highest priority. Bhagwant Singh Mann further said that naming airports, universities and other institutions after these great martyrs is important to perpetuate their glorious legacy.
The Chief Minister also said that his government has dedicated the Nishan-e-Inquilab Plaza to the people in which a 30-feet tall bronze statue of Shaheed Bhagat Singh has been installed on Airport Road in Mohali. He said that this statue has been installed so that people passing through that road can remember this great martyr. Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed the hope that such initiatives will prove to be a beacon to make tourists from home and abroad aware of the role of this great martyr.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government is leaving no stone unturned to fulfill the dreams of the great martyrs. He said that whenever any personality from home or abroad visits the state, they give them an opportunity to pay homage on this sacred land. Bhagwant Singh Mann said with sadness that the dreams of Shaheed-e-Azam are still unfulfilled because the symptoms of corruption, nepotism and poverty are still present today.
The Chief Minister said that unfortunately, after the departure of the British, the people who came to power looted the government treasury with more ruthlessness than the British. Giving an example of this, he said that the souls of these martyrs must have groaned when they see huge amounts of cash being recovered from the houses of big officers and judges. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that how can justice be expected from such tainted people who have amassed huge wealth through wrong means.
The Chief Minister said that these martyrs had not given their lives so that corruption could take root in the country. He said that the state government is making all-out efforts to realize the dreams of the martyrs. The Chief Minister said that after taking oath from here in March 2022, his government has provided free electricity to households since July, after which 90 percent of households are getting free electricity. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that for the first time, the state government has purchased a power plant from a private company to make the state surplus in power generation.
The Chief Minister said that 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics have been opened across the state where more than three crore patients have availed free treatment. He further said that the state government has provided government jobs to more than 52,000 youth purely on the basis of merit. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that so far 18 toll plazas have been closed in the state and with the closure of these toll plazas, the common people of Punjab are saving Rs 63 lakh daily.
Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Paying tributes to Ambedkar, the Chief Minister said that as per Babasaheb's ideology, the state government is empowering the weaker sections of the society by providing quality education to them. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that although Babasaheb came from a humble family, he was included in the list of top personalities of the world after getting education. He said that the 'School of Eminence' will fulfill Babasaheb's dreams by preparing poor but bright students for a bright future.
The Chief Minister said that as per the thinking of the great patriots, the state government is committed to ensuring the progress of Punjab and the prosperity of the people. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the day is not far when due to the joint efforts of the state government, Punjab will soon emerge as a leading state across the country. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government is committed to realizing every dream of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and creating a harmonious and equal society.
The Chief Minister said that the young hero of the freedom struggle sacrificed his life at a young age to free the country from the clutches of foreign imperialism. Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed grief and said that during the last 70 years, the previous governments have completely neglected the ideology and dreams of our great martyrs like Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh. Bhagwant Singh Mann reiterated that Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s martyrdom at a young age inspired the youth to join the national freedom movement, which led to the country’s independence.
The Chief Minister said that Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh will continue to be a source of inspiration for lakhs of youth to serve the country selflessly. He also called upon the youth to follow in the footsteps of Shaheed Bhagat Singh to make India a progressive and prosperous country. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he feels blessed to be on this holy land to pay homage to the great martyr who sacrificed his life in the country’s freedom struggle.
The Chief Minister said that the country will always be indebted to this great martyr who sacrificed his life to free the country from British imperialism at the young age of 23. He said that this great martyr was not just an individual but an institution and we should follow in his footsteps for the progress of the country. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the aim of every effort made by the state government is to create a progressive and prosperous Punjab as per the dream of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
During this, the Chief Minister honored the family members of the great martyr. Earlier, Bhagwant Singh Mann also paid tributes at the Samadhi of the martyr's father Late Sardar Kishan Singh. He also offered floral wreaths at the statue of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
