Budaun, March 19- A special POCSO court on Wednesday sentenced a man to death for killing a seven-year-old girl in 2024 after she failed to sexually assault him.
Additional District Public Prosecutor Virendra Singh and Pradeep Bharti said that after a four-month trial, Special Judge Deepak Kumar Yadav found 22-year-old Jain Alam guilty of the crime and sentenced him to death.
The incident is dated October 18, 2024, when the girl had gone out to buy vegetables in Bilsi town but did not return home. He said that in addition to the maximum punishment, the court imposed a fine of Rs 1.75 lakh on the accused.
The minor’s family reported her missing, after which the police found her body in an abandoned house. Singh said that CCTV clips from around the crime scene helped in identifying the accused.
