Garhshankar, March 19- After the Punjab Employees and Pensioners United Front held a mega rally in Mohali on March 25 during the budget session of the Vidhan Sabha, a meeting was held at Gandhi Park under the chairmanship of Block Pradhan Vinay Kumar and Pradeep Singh by the Democratic Teachers Front to prepare for the Punjab Vidhan Sabha march.
On this occasion, DTF District President Sukhdev Dancewal and Manjit Singh Banga said that the Punjab government has not yet implemented the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission and the remaining second part of the Sixth Pay Commission is lying in cold storage, while the Central Government has established the Eighth Pay Commission.
DTF leaders Jagdeep Kumar and Jarnail Singh said that the Punjab government has run away from its promise of restoring the old pension and is now linking it with the Central Government. Instead of making the casual employees permanent, they have cheated them by giving a nominal increase in their salary. No permanent employee has been given any benefit. The government has run away from its promise of doubling the honorarium of mid-day meal workers, Asha workers and facilitators, Anganwadi workers and helpers.
The rest of the allowances including rural allowance and border area allowance have been frozen. Instead of paying the arrears of 5 years and 6 months of the Pay Commission in lump sum, a hollow policy of paying it in 42 and 36 months is being adopted. It is being de-linked by giving 13 percent less dearness allowance from the Center and on the other hand, IAS officers are being given everything, the arrears of dearness allowance installments of employees and pensioners are pending. The 125% dearness allowance which was fixed while deciding salary and pension on 01.01.2016 is not being considered as the basis, all the allowances including rural allowance being given to the employees are being stopped in the name of amendment, employees are being exploited by giving basic salary for three years in the name of probation period, central pay scale has been forcibly imposed on the employees recruited after 17 July 2020 and in the name of development, Rs 200 is being collected as bribe from the employees and now even the pensioners.
To fulfill these legitimate demands, all the employees of Punjab will hold a huge rally in Mohali on 25 March and after that will march towards Punjab Vidhan Sabha in which it has been decided to include a large number of employees from Tehsil Garhshankar.
On this occasion, DTF State Joint Secretary Mukesh Kumar, Jarnail Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Harpinder Singh, Harbans Lal, Gurpreet Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Satpal Kaler, Hans Raj Garshankar and state leaders of 4161 Master Cadre Teachers Association Sandeep Singh Gill and Balkar Singh Manganian etc were also present.
