
Civil surgeon directs officials to expedite NCD campaign
Mohali, March 18: To ensure 100% coverage of all persons aged 30 years and above, Civil Surgeon Dr Sangeeta Jain directed senior health officials to expedite the ongoing non-communicable diseases (NCD) campaign in the district. The campaign, which will run from February 20 to March 31, 2025, aims to ensure 100% coverage of persons aged 30 years and above for detection and management of NCDs such as diabetes, hypertension and three common cancers - oral, breast and cervical.

Addressing a review meeting of programme officers and senior medical officers, she said that village health nutrition and sanitation committees have already been formed to take their help in the campaign, which should be utilised to the maximum extent. She asked the officials to make maximum efforts for the complete elimination of tuberculosis by the year 2025 and directed to provide quality treatment to TB patients.
The civil surgeon reiterated the need to not prescribe medicines available at outside chemist shops. He further said that if a prescribed medicine is not available then it is the duty of the officer in charge to make that particular medicine available to the patient. Dr Jain also reviewed the progress of various health programmes like Aam Aadmi Clinic, OOAT Clinic, NQAS, ABHA ID.
