Srinagar, March 14 - Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti today said that some big people have turned Holi celebrations into an atmosphere of fear for minorities with the approval of those in power. A day before this statement, she had said that pitting Hindus and Muslims against each other will have dangerous consequences for the country.
PDP president Mufti was today reacting to the controversies related to Holi celebrations and the Friday prayers of Ramzan. She said in an ex-post, “For me, Holi has always been a symbol of India’s Ganga-Yamuna culture. I remember eagerly waiting for the festival and celebrating it with great joy and enthusiasm with my Hindu friends.
However, some fanatics have now turned this celebration into fear for minorities with the approval of the ruling class.'' He further wrote that it is time to wake up India. Happy Holi to everyone.
Earlier on Thursday, the PDP president alleged that the atmosphere in the country is being spoiled and Hindus are being pitted against Muslims.
