Tributes paid to Rural Workers Union leader Late Dev Raj Kariha

Nawanshahr- Today, tributes were paid to the former Secretary of Rural Workers Union District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Late Dev Raj Kariha at Gurdwara Sahib in village Kariha. Speaking on the occasion, senior leaders of CPI (ML) New Democracy Punjab Comrade Darshan Singh Khatkar and Comrade Kulwinder Singh Waraich said that Comrade Dev Raj Kariha remained associated with their party throughout his life.

Under his leadership, a colony struggle was fought for the workers of village Kariha in the year 1996. In which the workers of Kariha won and the colonies were given to the workers in the year 1999. He fought steadfastly in this struggle. This struggle lasted for three years. The Dalits of village Kariha were given about three acres of land to build houses.
In 1996, the rich Chaudharies of the village tried to take back this land from the workers. Many methods were used but they could not take away this land from the workers. Due to the strength of this struggle and the unity of the workers, the rich Chaudharies had to lay down their arms before the workers. He said that due to this struggle and other struggles fought for the interests of the workers, Dev Raj Kariha will be remembered forever.
He said that Dev Raj Kariha was suffering from kidney disease for a long time and passed away on March 9. Before this, his only son Sarabjit Sabi had died of cancer. Which was a great sorrow in his heart. On this occasion, Hari Ram Rasulpuri conducted the stage.
