
HIV awareness campaign through promotional vehicle in Una
Una, March 13- A special campaign is being run in Una district with the aim of increasing public awareness about HIV/AIDS. As part of the HIV awareness activities being conducted by the State AIDS Control Committee across the state, awareness programs are being organized at various places in the district through promotional vehicles.

State AIDS Control Committee officer Rahul Chauhan said that under this campaign, free testing and awareness programs are being organized at various places with the help of local non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Efforts are being made to increase awareness by targeting Una, Tahliwal, various de-addiction centers, jail, transport workers and other sensitive populations.
He said that this campaign, which started in the district from March 1, will continue till March 15. He said that in this sequence, special awareness activities were organized in Raipur area of ????Una district today, in which free HIV testing facility was also provided. During this, 150 people were made aware about HIV, while 73 persons were tested for HIV free of cost.
Chief Medical Officer Dr SK Verma said that it is very important to remove the misconceptions spread in the society regarding HIV infection. This test is available completely free of cost in government hospitals and the identity of those getting tested is kept confidential. This infection can be effectively controlled with timely testing and proper counseling.
He appealed to the general public to take maximum advantage of this awareness campaign and come forward for regular testing, so that the spread of this infection can be stopped.
