
Election Commission invites party presidents and senior leaders to hold talks to further strengthen election processes as per legal framework
Hoshiarpur- The Election Commission of India has invited suggestions from all national and state level political parties by April 30, 2025 on unresolved issues at the ERO, DEO or CEO level. In a letter issued to political parties today, the Commission has invited party presidents and senior party members to hold talks to further strengthen election processes as per established law, asking them to fix a mutually agreed date and time.

In a letter issued to political parties today, the Commission has invited party presidents and senior party members to hold talks to further strengthen election processes as per established law, asking them to fix a mutually agreed date and time.
During the conference of the Election Commission of India last week, Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar had held a meeting with CEOs, DEOs and EROS of all states/UTs. The Commission has directed the Political Parties to hold regular meetings with the political parties and strictly implement any suggestions received in the meetings as per the established legal framework and submit an action report in this regard to the Commission by March 31, 2025. The Commission has asked the political parties to actively implement these directions.
Political parties are one of the key stakeholders identified by the Commission as per the Constitution and legal framework covering all aspects of the electoral processes. The Commission has also mentioned in its letter to the political parties that the Commission has established a strong and transparent legal framework for conducting free and fair elections in accordance with the Representation of the People Acts 1950 and 1951; Voters Registration Rules, 1960; Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961; Orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and the instructions, manuals and handbooks issued by the Election Commission of India from time to time (available on the ECI website).
