The Sub-Divisional Magistrate further said that stubble burning is a legal offense in view of the strict orders issued by the Supreme Court, the National Green Tribunal and the Commission for Air Quality Management (NCR and surrounding areas). Due to which they may have to face difficulties like 'red entry' in the revenue record along with paying environmental compensation. Further, setting fires is not only harmful to the environment, but also to human lives, animal and bird lives, friendly insects and vegetation. Therefore, in public interest, disposal of stubble should be done through machinery rather than setting it on fire.
On this occasion, his Agriculture Officer Dr. Danish was also present, informed the farmers about the benefits to the land by handling stubble without setting fire and balers and other machinery available for disposal of stubble.
