Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 24 February: Municipal Corporation Mohali has started strict action against property tax defaulters. Meanwhile, the Municipal Corporation team has started the property sealing process. The Municipal Corporation is sending notices to commercial and industrial property tax defaulters and many property owners have not deposited property tax despite the Municipal Corporation's notice. Taking strict action against them, the Municipal Corporation has sealed some showrooms in Phase-1.
Municipal Commissioner T. Benith has informed that the property owners of several hotels, petrol pumps, showrooms and other commercial properties within the limits of the Municipal Corporation, Mohali, who have not deposited the property tax despite being given two notices by the Corporation, will have their properties sealed in the coming days.
Municipal Commissioner Mr. T. Benith also informed that this year the Municipal Corporation has set a target of collecting about 50 crores property tax, out of which 38.40 crores have been received so far. He has appealed to the people to pay their outstanding property tax at the Municipal Corporation, Mohali as soon as possible. In case of failure to do so, the property tax will be recovered along with interest and penalty. If any person does not deposit the property tax despite receiving the notice from the Municipal Corporation, legal action will be taken against him.
He also informed that for the convenience of the people, '2 special windows' are operational for property tax collection at the office of the Municipal Corporation Mohali, where people can come and pay their property tax. Apart from this, property tax can also be paid on the basis of self-assessment on the online portal M.Seva. He also informed that strict action has been initiated by the Municipal Corporation against those people who are paying less property tax due to wrong assessment or are paying less property tax by showing their property in any other category and the due property tax will be recovered from them along with fines and interest.
The Commissioner also informed that from 01 March 2025 to 31 March 2025, the office of the Property Tax Branch of the Municipal Corporation will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 09:00 AM to 02:00 PM. So that people can deposit their property tax on time.
