
Awareness seminar against rabies and malaria organized at Red Cross Drug Detoxification Center.
17 February Nawanshahr- In Red Cross Integrated Rehabilitation Center for Drug Victims, Nawanshahr, Mr. Tarsem Lal (Deputy Group Education and Information Officer, Mass Media Wing, Civil Surgeon Office, Nawanshahr) made the patients admitted in the center aware about rabies, malaria and drug abuse under National Health Program. This seminar was presided over by Mr. Chaman Singh.

This seminar was presided over by Mr. Chaman Singh.
On this occasion, Mr. Tarsem Lal made them aware about the diseases caused by dog ??bite, snake bite and malaria. He explained in detail that a person gets a disease called rabies due to dog bite. To prevent this, a person can get free treatment in a government hospital. Due to which rabies disease can be avoided.
He said that malaria is caused by mosquito bite. Which is spread by protozoa parasite. The carrier of malaria parasite is female Anopheles mosquito. When bitten, malarial parasites enter the red blood cells, causing symptoms of anemia (dizziness, shortness of breath, nervousness, etc.). Apart from this, non-specific symptoms like fever, cold also appear.
Many measures can be taken to prevent the spread of malaria. Mosquito nets and insecticides etc. protect against mosquito bites, so mosquitoes can be controlled by spraying insecticides and removing stagnant water (on which mosquitoes lay their eggs). Preventive medicines have to be taken for a long time to prevent malaria. He also gave information about the side effects of drugs. He also explained in detail about the diseases caused by drugs. On this occasion, the project director of the center, Chaman Singh, also made the patients aware to stay away from drugs. He said that in case of dog or snake bite, first of all medical help should be taken from a government hospital. The government provides complete treatment free of cost.
He said that drug addicts become mentally and physically ill. Therefore, we should always stay away from drugs. On this occasion Jaswinder Kaur, Kamaljit Kaur, Dinesh Kumar, Manjit Singh, Parveen Kumari, Kamala Rani, Manjot, Parvesh Kumar, Kamala Rani, patients and their relatives were present.
