Garhshankar, 8 February – Olympian Jarnail Singh Football Tournament Committee Garhshankar organized village, college and club category matches on the third day of the 5-day 22nd State Level Olympian Jarnail Singh Memorial Football Tournament at the Olympian Jarnail Singh Memorial Football Stadium of Babbar Akali Akali Khalsa College here. In the village category match, Dhamai defeated Fatehpur Khurd by a margin of 3-1 goals and entered the finals.
Similarly, in the club category, Young Football Club Mahilpur defeated Sant Baba Bhag Singh University Jabbar by a margin of 5-0 to make it to the semi-finals. Similarly, in the college category match, Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar defeated Football Academy Baddon by a margin of 3-0 goals and entered the semi-finals. In the college category semi-final match, BAM Khalsa College Garhshankar team defeated Dasmesh Football Academy Sri Anandpur Sahib by a margin of 3-1 and entered the final.
In various competitions of the tournament, former Rajya Sabha member Avinash Rai Khanna, Mahinder Singh Bath President Doaba Group of Colleges, Karnail Singh Dhamai UK, Mukesh Kapoor MD Kapoor Jewelers, Rana Shivpal NADA, Rajwinder Singh Raja Dayal USA, Manjinder Singh Bagga Dayal Canada, Alvinder Singh Shergill Canada, Sukhjinder Singh Chhinjhar, Gopal Krishna Pali, Subedar Kewal Singh Bhajjal, Giani Bhagat Singh blessed the players and started the match.
On this occasion, former member Rajya Sabha Avinash Rai Khanna, while addressing, praised the efforts of the tournament and handed over a cheque of Rs. 1 lakh to the tournament committee for the development of the game by Sonalika Tractors Hoshiarpur. On this occasion, Rajinder Singh Shuka, former President Municipal Council Garhshankar and Kanwar Arora, MD Kanwar Arora Consultants, Balraj Singh Toor, Chairman Land Mortgage Bank Nawanshahr were specially present.
