Cabinet Minister Mahendra Bhagat pays tribute at Khatkar Kalan

Nawanshahr/Banga- Punjab's Defence Services Welfare, Freedom Fighters and Horticulture Minister Mahendra Bhagat paid tribute at the memorial of Shaheed-e-Azam S. Bhagat Singh at Khatkar Kalan before hoisting the national flag in Nawanshahr on the occasion of 76th Republic Day.

Nawanshahr/Banga- Punjab's Defence Services Welfare, Freedom Fighters and Horticulture Minister Mahendra Bhagat paid tribute at the memorial of Shaheed-e-Azam S. Bhagat Singh at Khatkar Kalan before hoisting the national flag in Nawanshahr on the occasion of 76th Republic Day.
On this occasion, apart from paying floral tribute to the statue of Shaheed-e-Azam S. Bhagat Singh, he also paid tribute at the memorial of his father S. Kishan Singh. On this occasion, he said that it is because of the sacrifices of the martyrs that we are breathing in the air of freedom today. He said that the Punjab Government, which was sworn in from this native village of Shaheed-e-Azam, is making every possible effort to create a prosperous society with communal harmony by maintaining the ideas of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
He said that the government has started many public welfare and development based schemes for the welfare of the people and has taken many steps to remove social evils. He said that the sole aim of these steps is to build a society of the dreams fulfilled by our great martyrs. He said that the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has decided to build a heritage street on this pious land of Khatkar Kalan to showcase the glorious contribution of Punjabis and Punjab in the freedom struggle.
He said that this 850-metre long heritage street will be built from the museum to the house of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. He said that this street will not only showcase the great contribution of the state in the freedom struggle but will also inspire the youth to work diligently for the country. MLA Banga and Chairman of Punjab State Container and Warehouse Corporation Dr. Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman, SSP Dr. Mehtab Singh, Chairman of District Planning Committee Satnam Singh Jalalpur, Vice Chairman of Punjab Water Resources Management and Development Corporation Kuljit Singh Sarhal and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
