Patiala, Jan 28- The English Literary Society of the Department of English, Punjabi University, organised the first lecture of the year under the Lecture Series 2025. The lecture on the topic 'Is Photography an Art?' was delivered by renowned academic translator and photographer Prof. Swaraj Raj.
In his lecture, he shared various interpretations of art in the context of space and time and brought out various aspects of the art of photography based on these interpretations. He explained in detail the history of the development of photography and its reception in the field of art etc.
He argued on the basis of various arguments made in his lecture that photography is also an art of 'making' photos. He also displayed various types of photographs to explain the various forms of photography.
Dr. Jyoti Puri, Head of the Department welcomed Prof. Swaraj Raj and shared his views with the audience about his personality. Giving information about this lecture series, he said that this series has been conceived as a platform connecting literature, culture, art and society. In the end, Dr. Monika Sabharwal gave the vote of thanks.
