Hoshiarpur- Social Security and Women and Child Development Department of Punjab Government organized district level function to celebrate Dhiyaan Di Lohri here today under Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign, in which Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said that there should be no difference between sons and daughters, because daughters are capable of touching heights in every field.
Hoshiarpur- Social Security and Women and Child Development Department of Punjab Government organized district level function to celebrate Dhiyaan Di Lohri here today under Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign, in which Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said that there should be no difference between sons and daughters, because daughters are capable of touching heights in every field.
He said that the all-round development of daughters will further strengthen the society. During the function organized in the nearby village Dolowal, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal and a large number of women celebrated the Lohri of 121 newborn daughters with full enthusiasm by lighting crackers. The Deputy Commissioner advised the mothers of 121 newborn daughters to celebrate Lohri of daughters by giving them blankets, Lohri and other traditional items. Komal Mittal said that only daughters can take the society forward in the true sense.
He said that there should be no discrimination between boys and girls, rather daughters' Lohri should also be celebrated every year. He said that everyone should make efforts together to raise the slogan of Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao and it is our primary duty to give good health along with good education to daughters.
He said that the objective of today's event is to wish for the progress of daughters as well as to make women aware about the importance of good health, necessary improvement in living standards, self-employment and self-help groups so that the desired results and development can be achieved in these areas.
The Deputy Commissioner said that during the event, the special health check-up camp organized by the Health Department, employment opportunities provided for girls by the Employment Department, presentation of their products by self-help groups, nutrition campaign, stall set up by Sakhi One Staff Center etc. received a huge response and information was obtained from women. The Deputy Commissioner celebrated the festival of Lohri by getting the girls to bid farewell to the Anganwadi workers.
On this occasion, 10 girls and 1 women entrepreneur who achieved achievements in various fields were also honored, out of which 5 girls were related to education and 5 girls were related to sports. More than 250 women were checked up in this camp and 400 girls and women were offered jobs.
District Program Officer Hardeep Kaur also gave special information about Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign. On this occasion, Lohri songs were also sung by the girls and a selfie corner was also set up under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
