Edmonton, November 19 - Dr. Hridepal Singh's book ' Sobha Singh Artist Life and Legacy ' written in English was released at Gurdwara Millwoods (Gursikh Society of Edmonton) to much fanfare in a packed divan. The book release ceremony was attended by Guru Ghar Chief Sevadar Surinder Singh Hunjhan, General Secretary Balbir Singh Chana, Senior Vice President Bhai Narinder Singh, Paramjit Singh Ubhi (Principal Ramgarhia Khalsa School) besides committee members Pavitar Singh Makhu, Gurdeep Singh Jhaji, Nirmal Singh Bhui and Giani Gurmeet Singh paid. On this occasion, Surinder Singh Hunjhan, the chief servant of the Guru Ghar, said that Sobha Singh was the honor and glory of the Sikh community, whose portraits of Sikh Gurus, devotees and Sikh martyrs through his subtle art are worthy of praise. The Government of India honored him with the highest award "Padma Shri" for his outstanding skills and outstanding artistry. He was the first Indian painter in whose memory the Government of India issued a commemorative postage stamp.
