Hoshiarpur, January 20: Punjab Local Bodies Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh today visited various villages of Shamchurasi constituency and inaugurated the Community Centre at village Dallewal, carrying forward a series of development works. The Cabinet Minister inaugurated a new tube well at village Khalwana and also launched the sewerage project.
After inaugurating the Community Centre at village Dallewal, Dr. Ravjot Singh said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, necessary development works are being carried out at every level in the villages and cities of Punjab so that the residents can avail the benefits of basic amenities. He said that the Punjab Government has made available 2142 MLD in the State. The capacity of these plants has been increased to 2634.15 MLD by adding 492.15 MLD capacity in the Sewerage Treatment Plants having capacity of 2634.15 MLD. He said that 52 more sewerage treatment plants with 607 MLD capacity are being set up, which will cost Rs 650 crore and will be completed in the next one and a half years. He said that to ensure all-round development of villages, necessary development works are being implemented with the consent of the Panchayats, which will be very beneficial for the people of the villages.
On the occasion of inauguration of tubewell and start of work of laying sewerage in village Khalwana, Dr. Ravjot Singh said that Panchayats are also called the pillars of democracy and Panchayats should work with full honesty for development of villages, basic amenities and proper solution of public problems. He said that there is no shortage of funds for development and in the coming days these works will be expedited further. The Cabinet Minister started the work of laying sewerage in village Abhowal, Mohalla Tahliwal and Kadiyana.
