SAS Nagar, January 8 - Mohali Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi has condemned the establishment of the post of Chief Secretary in Chandigarh by the Centre and said that BJP should stop conspiring against Punjab.
In a statement issued here today, he said that another big blow has been dealt to Punjab by abolishing the post of Advisor. He said that the biggest thing is that the Central Government did not even consider it appropriate to ask the Punjab Government in this matter, which is very unfortunate.
He said that this is a completely wrong decision of the Central Government and the Government should immediately withdraw it. He said that Chandigarh is the capital of Punjab and a separate Chief Secretary can never be appointed in the capital. He said that the Government should hand over Chandigarh to Punjab and resolve this issue once and for all. He said that the BJP government at the center is trying to make Chandigarh a complete union territory by increasing the IAS posts from time to time and is conspiring to abolish the rights of Punjab, which is being done deliberately.
The Deputy Mayor has requested all political parties to stand in favor of Punjab against this decision and oppose the government. He demanded that the Punjab government bring a resolution against it in the Vidhan Sabha. He has demanded that Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar and other leaders put pressure on the central government to withdraw this decision because this decision is anti-Punjab.
The Deputy Mayor also demanded that officers from Chandigarh should also be appointed according to the ratio and the central government should stop sending officers to Chandigarh on its own. He said that officers from Punjab and Haryana should be appointed according to the ratio made earlier.
