The Hague/Tel Aviv/Istanbul, June 25 - US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the US will hold nuclear talks with Iran next week and will seek a commitment to end Iran's nuclear ambitions.
He credited the US strikes on Iran for a swift end to the war between Israel and Tehran. Trump said his decision to use large bunker-busting bombs in Sunday's attack had destroyed Iran's nuclear programme and described the outcome as a win for everyone. "It was very serious. It was a disaster," he said.
Meanwhile, anxious Iranians and Israelis were trying to restore normal life after 12 days of intense fighting and a ceasefire that came into effect on Tuesday. Attending a NATO summit in The Hague, Trump said he did not see Iran engaging in nuclear weapons development again. “We’ll talk to Iran next week. We might make a deal. I don’t know… For me, I don’t think it’s that important,” Trump said.
