Nawanshahr: Under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman, the District Administration today organized an awareness session at the District Administrative Complex to create awareness about underground natural gas pipelines in the surrounding areas and also about the dangers of damage to the pipeline due to unauthorized excavation activities. 
During this session, chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Avneet Kaur, awareness was created about the underground natural gas pipelines in the area and the traffic routes for light commercial vehicles (LCVs) used for transporting natural gas. It was emphasized that before starting any work along the gas pipeline route, third party contractors, individuals should contact Think Gas Emergency Number 1800-572-7105 and coordinate with the concerned departments like Public Works Department, Local Government Department, Water Supply and Sanitation etc. 
The need to maintain an updated list of emergency contacts and helpline numbers to be activated during a crisis situation was also highlighted on the occasion. Similarly, the need to increase awareness among all the concerned stakeholders including local communities, industries and the public, besides regular monitoring of the natural gas pipelines across the district, was emphasized. Additional Deputy Commissioner Avneet Kaur said on the occasion that educating these groups about the risks and their roles during emergency situations is very important for collective safety. 
She said that a list of such numbers should be prepared so that all stakeholders can use them during emergencies. The session concluded under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner. Think Gas officials thanked the local administration for their support in this important session. The meeting was attended by officials from PWD, PSPCL, Water Supply and Sanitation, Irrigation, Health, BSNL, Jio, Airtel etc.
