Deputy Commissioner held a review meeting regarding preparations to deal with winter and drought

Una, December 3: Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal held a meeting with district officials on Tuesday and took a comprehensive review of the preparations to deal with the situations arising out of winter and drought in Una district. In the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed all the departments to ensure necessary assistance to the vulnerable sections, especially the homeless, elderly and children during the winter season. He especially stressed on the need for prompt action by identifying areas prone to extreme cold.

Una, December 3: Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal held a meeting with district officials on Tuesday and took a comprehensive review of the preparations to deal with the situations arising out of winter and drought in Una district. In the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed all the departments to ensure necessary assistance to the vulnerable sections, especially the homeless, elderly and children during the winter season. He especially stressed on the need for prompt action by identifying areas prone to extreme cold.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Public Works Department to install reflective signs and warning signals for road safety in foggy areas. Also, asked to install solar powered blinking lights on sharp turns. He said that the district administration is with the people in every situation. Road safety and public welfare is our priority during winter. All departments should make coordinated efforts in this direction and provide a safe environment to the citizens.
Special attention was also paid to the arrangement of temporary night shelters in the meeting. The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need to set up shelters equipped with heaters, blankets and other necessary facilities in collaboration with NGOs and local organizations. He directed the Health Department to ensure adequate stock of medicines and equipment required for cold-related diseases in all health centers. Jal Shakti Department and Electricity Department were also directed to maintain uninterrupted supply of water and electricity.
The Deputy Commissioner said that citizens should be made aware of measures to avoid cold through local media. He appealed to the district residents to wear appropriate clothing for the weather and use heating equipment safely.
In the meeting, the drought like situation due to lack of rain and its impact on agriculture and drinking water resources were also discussed. The Deputy Commissioner said that the Agriculture Department and Water Power Department should prepare such solutions which can provide relief to farmers and citizens.
Superintendent of Police Rakesh Singh along with senior officers of the concerned departments of the district were present in the meeting.
