
Anganwadi centers become the axis of change in the fight against malnutrition

Nutrition is distributed to the beneficiaries on the first of every month through 1364 Anganwadi centers in the district, this important initiative is proving to be a milestone not only in improving the level of nutrition but also in making the community health conscious.

Nutrition is distributed to the beneficiaries on the first of every month through 1364 Anganwadi centers in the district, this important initiative is proving to be a milestone not only in improving the level of nutrition but also in making the community health conscious.
To ensure transparency in nutrition distribution and give priority to community participation, this work is done under the supervision of a 10-member Anganwadi level monitoring and support committee at each center. The committee is headed by the ward panch, while it includes local representatives like self-help groups, Mahila Mandal, retired persons, primary school teachers, Asha workers and Anganwadi workers.
Transparent system- A detailed list of nutrition is displayed in Anganwadi centres
District Program Officer, Women and Child Development Department, Una, Narendra Kumar, says that a detailed list of nutrition, food grains, and their quantity is publicly displayed in every Anganwadi center in the district. This step is dedicated to increasing awareness about the services provided to the beneficiaries, transparency and trust in the system.
24471 people were given benefits in December
The District Program Officer said that under this initiative, nutrition is distributed to children between 6 months to 3 years, pregnant women and lactating mothers. Malnourished and severely malnourished children are especially provided double nutrition. According to the data of December month, 3147 pregnant women, 3010 lactating mothers and 18314 children have benefited from nutrition.
Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahendra Pal Gurjar says that Anganwadi centres in Una district are not only providing nutritional services to the local community but are also making them aware about cleanliness, health and child rights.
This initiative has been made even more effective through community participation. Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal says that this initiative to fight malnutrition and improve maternal and child health is a major achievement. With a regular distribution system and community participation, Una district is rapidly moving towards a healthy and empowered society.
