Hoshiarpur: On the basis of complaint received as per the directions of Hon'ble Commissioner Food and Drug Administration Punjab Dr. Abhinav Trikha and Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Pawan Kumar Shagotra; Food Safety Team Hoshiarpur led by District Health Officer Dr. Jatinder Bhatia inspected various Velanas situated on Phagwara Road Hoshiarpur. The team took 4 samples of jaggery, sugar and food colour found at Velanas.
District Health Officer Dr. Jatinder Bhatia said that with the aim of providing quality food to the people, Food Safety Officer Vivek Kumar and his team have inspected various Velanas situated on Phagwara Road today. Which has been done on the basis of complaint received regarding the quality of jaggery. Meanwhile, the owners and traders of jaggery mills have also been instructed to follow the guidelines of FSSAI.
The samples collected from these various banks have been sent for laboratory testing. Action will be taken after the sample report comes. DHO Dr Jatinder Bhatia and FSO Vivek Kumar warned every Velna owner to follow good hygiene practices. Adding any kind of sugar or any foreign matter in the jaggery will not be tolerated. Strict action will be taken against those who do so.
