
District to have a special meeting of Road Safety on De-congestion of City Roads next month - DC Aashika Jain
SAS Nagar, November 27, 2024: To make Mohali roads safer and traffic jam-free, a special meeting of the Road Safety Committee on the De-congestion of city roads will be held in the second week of December, said the Deputy Commissioner, Aashika Jain. The meeting will be attended by the Principal Secretary (Housing and Urban Development) and the major issues related to GMADA will be discussed to clear the chaos on city roads.

The meeting will be attended by the Principal Secretary (Housing and Urban Development) and the major issues related to GMADA will be discussed to clear the chaos on city roads.
Taking a review of works done for the safe commuting of residents, while chairing the meeting of the District Road Safety Committee, the Deputy Commissioner said that the construction of roundabouts should be completed as earliest possible in the wake of upcoming foggy weather. Similarly, all the road construction work should be highlighted with reflectors or other mediums to make the commuters attentive. Apart from that the pending black spots should also be fixed, be it related to GMADA, NHAI, MC or PWD.
Taking up the report prepared by the Traffic Police to make the roads free of bushes and make the sign boards visible, she asked the GMADA, MC, PWD and other concerned departments to implement the recommendations given in the report in principle by the next two weeks with submission of Action Taken Report.
She said that the CCTVs and other cameras being installed under the City Surveillance System should be completed by the given time and the installation of speed limit sign boards, stop lines etc requisite to issue the challans to the violators, should also be done before the completion of CCTV installation.
She directed the GMADA to fix the issues raised by SDM Gurmandar Singh to ensure smooth and safe commuting on the New Cricked Stadium road.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the committee members and health department to make the people aware of the Good Samaritan (Farishtey scheme) to save the lives of road accident victims during the golden hours.
The meeting was attended by the ADC (G) Viraj S Tidke, ACA GMADA Amrinder Singh Tiwana, SP (Traffic) H S Mann, SDM Kharar Gurmandar Singh, SDM Derabassi Amit Gupta, Estate Officer (Plots) GMADA Ravinder Singh, NGO Member Harpreet Singh and other stakeholders.
