Patiala, October 2 - The election of MLA Kulwant Singh Bajigar from Shutrana constituency of Patiala district as Sarpanch of his brother Jagir Singh's "Sarbas Samiti" in village Karimnagar Chichdwal has become a matter of controversy. And the matter has reached the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Addressing a press conference at Patiala Media Club here today, Gurcharan Ram, a resident of village Karimnagar Chichdwal, said that he wants that the election for the post of Sarpanch and Panch in the village should be held in a transparent manner. He alleged that MLA Kulwant Singh Bajigar of Shutrana constituency is openly using force. He said that many prominent people of his village had reached the BDPO office to get the NOC, but the office was locked on the orders of the MLA. A video of the incident was also shown in which the office was locked and people were seen standing outside the office. Gurcharan Ram said that the MLA had called only his close people to his house and four men together put a pre-ordered garland around Jagir Singh's neck and after distributing pre-ordered laddus, he announced that the election was unanimous.
He said that if the MLA wanted unanimity, he should have called a meeting at the village's Gurudwara Sahib or any common place and should have called the entire village as well. He said that he himself is not interested in contesting the election for the post of Sarpanch, but wants that the election should be held with transparency instead of bullying.
He said that he has filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court in this matter, which is to be heard in the High Court tomorrow on October 3.
Showing the video of dirty water filled near the village school, he said that Kulwant Singh could not work for the village as Sarpanch earlier. And now even being an MLA, he could not get any development work done in the village and the condition of cleanliness in the village is also bad.

MLA's side:
When contacted in this matter, MLA Kulwant Singh Bajigar said that the villagers have unanimously elected Jagir Singh as the Sarpanch. He said that he himself was saying that I myself have been a Sarpanch and now I am an MLA, but the villagers said that the grant has to be spent through you, so unanimously your family has to be given the Sarpanch. He said that the person who held the press conference has 7 criminal cases registered against him including forgery and other serious crimes. Its only purpose is to get a gunman.
