Patiala, November 23: The Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department is organizing village level awareness camps to make farmers aware about the precautions to be taken for weed control in wheat.
Giving information in this regard, Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Jaswinder Singh said that at the block level, agricultural experts are giving information to farmers about the precautions to be taken for weed control during sowing, before irrigation and after irrigation. He said that for weed control in wheat, two weedings should be done, the first weeding should be done before watering the wheat and the second weeding should be done when the wind comes in the field.
The Chief Agriculture Officer said that before the first irrigation (after the emergence of weeds), 300 grams to 500 grams of Arilon, Delron, Hilproteuron, Ronak, Wonder etc. can be used according to the type of soil. Apart from this, after the first irrigation (after the emergence of the seedlings), 500 grams of Isoproturan 75 WP can be used. Dr. Jaswinder Singh appealed to the farmers that fertilizers and herbicides should be used in the crop only as per the opinion of experts so that there is no economic loss to the farmers and there is no adverse effect on the quality of the crop.
