PEC Orientation Day 2–3: Inspiring Students with Vision, Values & Opportunities

Chandigarh, 27th August 2025: Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, continued its Orientation Program for the new batch of 2025–29 with two enriching days filled with guidance, inspiration, and opportunities. The sessions not only acquainted students with academic systems but also introduced them to the broader vision, culture, and values that have shaped PEC’s legacy.

Chandigarh, 27th August 2025: Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, continued its Orientation Program for the new batch of 2025–29 with two enriching days filled with guidance, inspiration, and opportunities. The sessions not only acquainted students with academic systems but also introduced them to the broader vision, culture, and values that have shaped PEC’s legacy.
Day 2 began with a motivating address by Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia, Director of PEC, who outlined the institution’s vision of holistic growth and innovation. He guided students through essential academic processes such as course registration, add/drop facilities, ERP usage, grading policies, and the feedback system, emphasizing that transparency and discipline are integral to their success. Encouraging students to embrace a growth mindset, he remarked that “no one is god-gifted; consistent practice and responsibility are the true keys to success.”
The Heads of Departments then offered insights into their disciplines. Prof. Sanjeev Kumar, Head of Physics, underlined the importance of integrity and enthusiasm for learning, while highlighting the department’s innovative courses and research culture. Prof. Harminder Kaur, Head of Chemistry, encouraged students to approach science with curiosity and creativity, drawing attention to the department’s advanced laboratories and global collaborations. Prof. Asha Gupta, Head of Mathematics, spoke on the transformative power of mathematics in sharpening problem-solving skills. Prof. Anju Singla, Head of the Centre of Management and Humanities, introduced a wide range of offerings from entrepreneurship and finance to economics, management, and soft skills, emphasizing the department’s role in nurturing holistic leaders.
Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. D.R. Prajapati, welcomed the new cohort with warmth and introduced them to the life awaiting them at PEC. He familiarized students with the DSA team, hostel wardens, and in-charges who ensure smooth campus operations. He also highlighted amenities such as the gym, swimming pool, dispensary, and marketplace, reinforcing PEC’s commitment to overall student well-being. The day concluded with a reminder of PEC’s zero-tolerance stance against ragging. Under the guidance of Prof. Mohit Tyagi, ADSA, the institute has implemented proactive measures to ensure dignity, respect, and mental health, with an active Anti-Ragging Forum committed to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment.
Day three featured a thought-provoking and interactive session by Dr. Rishi Mohan Bhatnagar, Co-founder (India) and Global CTO of AA2IT, Ex-President of Lava International, Chairman of The IET Future Tech Panel & Congress, mentor, philanthropist, and co-author of Enterprise IoT. Speaking with energy and passion, he shared his experiences and perspectives on the possibilities of Indian IT systems. He encouraged students to aspire towards building tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and Meta in India, while also speaking about “Bhartiya GPT,” an initiative aimed at creating AI with a distinctly Indian narrative. Blending culture with technology, he drew on stories from the Ramayana and Mahabharata to illustrate how Indian ethos can guide modern innovation.
The day also included introductory sessions from other key members of the institution. Dr. Seema Vashista, Senior Librarian, acquainted students with the extensive resources of PEC’s Central Library. Prof. Rajesh Kumar Kanda, Head of Alumni, Corporate and International Relations, highlighted the institution’s strong alumni network, corporate linkages, and international partnerships. Prof. J.D. Sharma, Head of the Career Development and Guidance Centre, outlined avenues for placements, training, and career development that ensure students are prepared for global opportunities.
With its mix of academic rigor, industry insights, cultural values, and student support systems, the Orientation Program on Days two and three inspired the new batch with a sense of purpose and belonging. As the class of 2025–29 begins its journey at PEC Chandigarh, it does so with renewed enthusiasm and confidence, ready to build not just knowledge but also character and innovation.
