Cancer Awareness Seminar conducted by the Health Department at the Nursing Department of Riyat Bahra College

Hoshiarpur - According to the directions of Health Department Punjab and Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Pawan Kumar Shagotra on the occasion of National Cancer Awareness Day by Media Wing; An awareness seminar was organized for the students of the college with the support of Dr. Meenakshi Ji, Principal, Department of Nursing, Rayat Bahra College and Ek-Rah Charitable and Welfare Society (Raj) Hoshiarpur.

 In which Senior Medical Officer Dr. Manpreet Singh Bains from CHC Harta Badla, Dental Specialist Dr. Navneet Kaur from Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur, Medical Officer PHC Harta Badla Dr. Kritika, Deputy Mass Media Officer Dr. Tripta Devi, Deputy Mass Media Officer Ramandeep Kaur, BEE Amandeep Singh HI Gurmail Singh, staff and students of the college participated. While addressing the seminar, Dr. Kritika told the students that cancer can be controlled by treatment if it is detected in the early stage.
Cancer disease is increasing nowadays due to many reasons like polluted environment, our life style, misuse of chemicals, excessive use of cigarette, beedi and tobacco and lack of balanced diet etc. Cancer can occur in any part of the body. Cervical cancer and breast cancer are very common in women. Punjab government conducts screening tests for women over 30 years of age for cervical and breast. He said that the disease can be found and controlled by early screening of women. Dental surgeon Dr. Navneet Kaur said that cancer of the mouth, throat, tongue, lungs, etc. caused by tobacco consumption is very common nowadays. Symptoms of oral cancer such as a sore in the mouth that is not healing for a long time, a white patch in the mouth or bleeding from the gums, early diagnosis and timely treatment can improve life. can be made
Deputy Mass Media Officer Dr. Tripta Devi said that National Cancer Awareness Day is celebrated on November 7 every year. The main objective of which is to spread awareness among people about cancer disease and provide them with correct information about its symptoms, causes and treatment alternatives. To prevent cancer, we should change our lifestyle and be physically active. Avoid junk food and include fresh home-made food, fruits and vegetables in the diet.
 Deputy Mass Media Officer Ms. Ramandeep Kaur said that for the treatment of cancer, the Punjab government provides an aid amount of one and a half lakhs to the respective hospital from the Chief Minister's Cancer Relief Fund. He also shared information about government and empaneled hospitals for cancer treatment.
