On this occasion, the authors of the best books of the year were honored under the leadership of Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balveer Singh.

On this occasion Dr JB Sekhon, Head of Punjabi Department of Khalsa College Mahilpur, was awarded the Principal Teja Singh Award for his book 'Chautha Pahir'. Sardar Jaswant Singh Zafar, Director of Language Department, Punjab presided over the function And congratulated the award-winning authors. On this occasion, President of Central Punjabi Writers' Association (Sekhon) Pawan Harchandpuri, Darshan Buttar, President of Central Punjabi Writers' Association, Dr. Atam Randhawa, President of Punjab Sahitya Academy Chandigarh and Dr. Sarabjit Singh, President of Punjabi Sahitya Academy Ludhiana arrived as special guests.
The chief guest Dr. Balveer Singh congratulated the award winning writers and encouraged them to write more good literature with their pen. On this occasion, Dr. JB Sekhon said that receiving an award in the name of a learned writer like Principal Teja Singh is a golden opportunity of his life. He thanked the Punjab Government and Language Department for this honour.
It is to be noted that Dr. JB Sekhon, the author of eight books in original and edited form, is one of the contemporary fiction critics, whose more than 60 research papers have been published in various literary magazines. Literary writers of the area and office bearers of various educational institutions wished Dr. Sekhon for this achievement.
