Deputy Commissioner stresses on ensuring public participation in the development of Gram Panchayats

Una, November 5 - Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal has called for special focus on public participation to give a new direction to rural development and ensure holistic and inclusive development of panchayats. He was presiding over the meeting of the district level committee constituted for the preparation process of Gram Panchayat Development Plan 2025-26 held in the District Council Auditorium on Tuesday. Top officials of all the concerned departments were present in the meeting.

Una, November 5 - Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal has called for special focus on public participation to give a new direction to rural development and ensure holistic and inclusive development of panchayats. He was presiding over the meeting of the district level committee constituted for the preparation process of Gram Panchayat Development Plan 2025-26 held in the District Council Auditorium on Tuesday. Top officials of all the concerned departments were present in the meeting.
In the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized on linking the development of panchayats with public participation, so that effective implementation of schemes can be ensured according to local needs in each panchayat. He emphasized the need for active participation of citizens to encourage planned and community development in rural areas.
He said that by January 31, 2025, special Gram Sabhas would be organized in all the panchayats of the district, in which various aspects of development plans would be discussed and action plans would be prepared.
The role of frontline workers is important
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the officers of various departments to motivate the frontline workers of their departments to participate in these Gram Sabhas. These workers will make people aware of government schemes and their benefits at the rural level, so that more and more people can take advantage of government schemes. This will lead to the creation and implementation of schemes at the Panchayat level on the basis of public participation, which will be in accordance with local needs.
