Hoshiarpur - With the aim of making people aware about dengue, various activities were organized under the "Har Friday, Dengue Te Vaar" campaign across the district under the special efforts of Honorable Health and Family Welfare Minister Punjab Dr. Balveer Singh and as per the guidelines of Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Pawan Kumar, under the leadership of District Epidemiologist Dr. Jagdeep Singh.
Director NHM Dr. Balwinder Kumar Damana specially arrived to inspect these activities at the district level. In this campaign, anti-larva teams, multi-purpose health workers, breeding checkers, as well as students of nursing colleges conducted a door-to-door survey. The houses in which mosquito larvae were found were destroyed on the spot. During the door-to-door visit, the team made people aware, destroyed the water accumulated in coolers, pots, goods lying on the roofs, refrigerator trays, water tanks for animals and birds and asked to keep it completely dry. The larvae of mosquitoes spreading diseases can be eliminated.
During the activities, people were given information about the prevention and control of dengue, because unless people themselves are aware of it and pay attention to the cleanliness of stagnant water sources, dengue cannot be prevented. The Municipal Corporation also issued challans to those where larvae were found. District epidemiologist Dr. Jagdeep Singh, while sharing the information, said that so far 165 cases have been reported in the district and 36 cases have been reported outside the district.
He said that by taking small precautions, we can avoid diseases like dengue, malaria and chikungunya. He said that the test and treatment of dengue fever is free in all government hospitals. In case of any kind of fever, only paracetamol tablets should be taken and immediately tested and treated at the nearest health center.
