
A student of Gurseva Nursing College Panam committed suicide
City Police Station Garhshankar has registered a case under section 306 against the main responsible Director Davinder Kaur Roy, wife Chairman (Gurseva Nursing College) Jang Singh Bahadur and Vice Principal Kamaldeep Kaur who forced Aashiq, a student of Gurseva Nursing College Panam (Garhshankar) situated on the Garhshankar-Chandigarh main road, to commit suicide.
City Police Station Garhshankar has registered a case under section 306 against the main responsible Director Davinder Kaur Roy, wife Chairman (Gurseva Nursing College) Jang Singh Bahadur and Vice Principal Kamaldeep Kaur who forced Aashiq, a student of Gurseva Nursing College Panam (Garhshankar) situated on the Garhshankar-Chandigarh main road, to commit suicide.
Giving information, father of the deceased student Mehboob resident of Haryana, Punjab Students Union's State Finance Secretary Baljeet Dharamkot and college students Alijan, Manfeed, Suhail, District Leader of Democratic Teacher Front Hansraj and Kirti Kisan Union's State Finance Secretary Harmesh Singh Dhesi said that today at 8:30 am, under the leadership of Punjab Students Union, parents of the students and college students staged a sit-in in front of the main gate of the college.
But when the protesters saw that they were not getting justice from the police administration, they staged a sit-in on the Garhshankar-Chandigarh highway. After which DSP Garhshankar Jaspreet Singh along with his police party appealed to the protesters to lift the sit-in from the highway. But they persisted. They were continuously demanding that the college officials responsible for forcing the girl student to commit suicide should be arrested and a case under section 306 should be registered. And written assurance should be given regarding the demands of the students.
After this, the police took immediate action and arrested the chairman, director and vice principal of the college and brought them to the police station and on the basis of the statement of the deceased's father, an FIR under section 306 was registered against the director and vice principal. The students gave a written demand letter to SDM Garhshankar Harbans Singh and Deputy Speaker Jai Singh Rodi who reached the protest and the Deputy Speaker also formed a committee of students in this regard.
An assurance was also given to form a board of three doctors for the post-mortem of the deceased. After which the protesters announced to struggle till the demands were implemented and postponed the protest. At around seven in the evening, after the post-mortem by a three-member board of doctors, the body of the deceased was handed over to the parents. On this occasion, the Sikh Students Federation also supported the struggle of the students.
