Nawanshahr, - A total of 1565 nominations have been received for the posts of Sarpanchs and 4960 for the posts of Panchas in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district till the last day of filing nominations for Gram Panchayat Elections-2024.
 Giving information in this regard, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Rajesh Dhiman said that under the block-wise distribution of nominations, a total of 285 nominations have been received for the posts of Sarpanchs and 1066 for Panchs in Banga Block. A total of 324 nominations were received for the post of Sarpanchs and a total of 1261 nominations for Panchs in Nawanshahr Block.
 Similarly, a total of 461 nominations for Sarpanchs and a total of 1143 nominations for Panchs were received in Balachore Block, while a total of 276 nominations were received for Sarpanchs and a total of 832 nominations for Panchs in Aur Block. Apart from this, a total of 219 nominations for Sarpanchs and 658 nominations for Panchs were received in Saroa block.
 He said that after the work of filling nominations was completed yesterday, the papers were scrutinized today. He informed that the last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 7, 2024 till 3 pm. He said that the votes will be held on October 15, 2024 through ballot papers from 8 am to 4 pm. He said that after the completion of voting, the counting should be done on the same day at the polling stations.
