
Farmers encouraged to prevent stubble burning and its proper management
Hoshiarpur - Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal and SSP Hoshiarpur Surinder Lamba visited different villages of block Tanda today. These villages included Bains Awan, Pul Pukhta, Duburji, Miani, Talla, Mada, Giljian, Kamalpur, Alawal Isa and Balra. Meanwhile, Chief Agriculture Officer Hoshiarpur Dr Davinder Singh was also present. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner and SSP interacted with the farmers and urged them to stop stubble burning.

He appealed to the farmers not to burn stubble and said that stubble burning causes huge damage to the environment and also destroys the micro-organisms present in the soil, which reduces the fertility of the soil. He said that if the straw is mixed in the field itself, then the fertility of the soil can also be increased. Officials also told the farmers that they can use baler machines to remove the stubble from the field. Meanwhile, Sevak Sharma of Pusav Bio Fuel and Gurpreet Atwal of Rana Enterprise Hoshiarpur were contacted for stubble management with the farmers.
The Deputy Commissioner also informed that harvesting of paddy with combine machines is prohibited in the district from 7 pm to 10 am. SDM Tanda Pankaj Kumar directed the agriculture officials to make efforts to reach the farmers with machinery to reduce fire incidents in block Tanda. Chief Agriculture Officer Hoshiarpur Dr Davinder Singh while addressing the farmers said that machinery is being delivered to the villages by the Agriculture Department. He urged the farmers to make maximum use of this machinery and avoid stubble burning. Finally, Agriculture Officer Tanda Dr. Yashpal appealed to the farmers not to burn stubble and thanked the district administration and farmers.
On this occasion, SP Sarabjit Bahian, DSP Tanda Davinder Singh Bajwa, Agriculture Development Officer Dr Lovejit Singh, SHO Tanda Gurinderjit Singh Nagra, Tanda Agriculture Department team, Satinder Singh, Secretary Maninder Singh Miani and other farmers were present.
