Procurement Operations: About 85000 MT of Paddy Procured in SAS Nagar Mandis
SAS Nagar, October 19, 2024: - District Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar Mandis has recorded an arrival of about 88000 MT by Saturday evening and out of it, 85000 MT of Paddy has been procured by the agencies, said Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain, here. Terming the procurement operations smooth and hassle-free, DC Jain further said that a total of 18 purchase centres have been set up in the district to ensure hassle-free purchase of Paddy.
SAS Nagar, October 19, 2024: - District Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar Mandis has recorded an arrival of about 88000 MT by Saturday evening and out of it, 85000 MT of Paddy has been procured by the agencies, said Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain, here. Terming the procurement operations smooth and hassle-free, DC Jain further said that a total of 18 purchase centres have been set up in the district to ensure hassle-free purchase of Paddy. She said that the agencies have been asked to expedite the lifting to avoid a glut in the grain markets.
She said that an amount of Rs 154 Crore has been transferred to the accounts of farmers which is 103 per cent as per the condition of 48 hours. Reiterating the commitment of the district administration and procurement agencies to procure every single grain of paddy, she said that all the officers and employees of the Food agencies and Mandi Board have been deputed to the Mandis to ensure no problem for the farmers. She said that the district had allocated five procurement agencies including Pungrain, Markfed, Pusnsup, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation and FCI.
Appealing to the farmers for not burning the stubble and crop residue, DC Jain advised them to use mechanical equipment to dispose of the stubble and crop residue and protect the environment from getting smocked and polluted. She said that the district administration also has 8000 trial packs of bio decomposer with the Agricultural Department and the farmers can get to decompose the stubble into the soil.
