Organized book fair and honor ceremony

Nawanshahr - Today Doaba Sahitya Sabha Nawanshahr and Doaba Arya Senior Secondary School Nawanshahr organized a 'Book Festival and Felicitation Ceremony' in the memory of former President of Doaba Sahitya Sabha Nawanshahr Surjit Karda, multi-talented Harbans Heon and poet Iqbal Khan.

Nawanshahr - Today Doaba Sahitya Sabha Nawanshahr and Doaba Arya Senior Secondary School Nawanshahr organized a 'Book Festival and Felicitation Ceremony' in the memory of former President of Doaba Sahitya Sabha Nawanshahr Surjit Karda, multi-talented Harbans Heon and poet Iqbal Khan.

In the program organized in the library hall of Doaba Arya Senior Secondary School Nawanshahr, Professor Bhajan Singh read a booklet about the book 'Ajmer Sidhu Ki Kahani Jagat: Vividh Pasar' edited by Kewal Ram Nawanshahr. Poet Kulwinder Kulla, Kewal Ram Nawanshahr and Harbans Heon's wife Kamaljit Kaur Heon were honored. Principal Rajinder Singh Gill welcomed everyone and said that the doors of his school are always open for literary activities. Dr. JB Sekhon, Head of Punjabi Department of Khalsa College Mahilpur, threw light on the books of Ajmer Sidhu in detail.

The program was presided over by Darshan Singh Khatkar, Professor Mahinder Singh Banwait, Baldev Singh Dhindsa, Dr. JB Sekhon and Kamaljit Kaur Heon. Through his presidential address, Darshan Singh Khatkar invited the litterateurs to fulfill their responsibility through literature. The gathering honoured Kulwinder Kulla and Kewal Ram Nawanshahr with Lok Kavi Sant Ram Udaasi Award. Kulwinder Kulla's Ghazal collection 'Rann se Taj Tak' was also released on this occasion.
Brief information about Surjit Karda, Iqbal Khan and Harbans Heon was shared by Jasbir Deep, Ajmer Sidhu. Professor Mahinder Singh Banwait, Lecturer Sarabjit Kaur, Baldev Singh Dhindsa also presented their views on this occasion. Bhupinder Singh Waraich, Sunil Chandianvi, Kulwinder Kulla and Master Balveer Kumar presented Ghazals and poems.
