
SAS NAGAR POLICE CRACKS JAWAHARPUR ROBBERY CASE WITHIN THREE DAYS OF THE CRIME
SAS NAGAR, May 03: Amidst the ongoing drive against organised crime and criminals, District SAS Nagar Police achieved a major breakthrough when a team of Sub division Dera Bassi police cracked the Jawahrapur robbery case within three days of the crime and arrested four accused involved in the crime, said Sh Deepak Pareek, IPS, SSP SAS Nagar.
SAS NAGAR, May 03: Amidst the ongoing drive against organised crime and criminals, District SAS Nagar Police achieved a major breakthrough when a team of Sub division Dera Bassi police cracked the Jawahrapur robbery case within three days of the crime and arrested four accused involved in the crime, said Sh Deepak Pareek, IPS, SSP SAS Nagar.
Those arrested have been identified as Rohit Kumar alias Jaman r/o Village Laloni, District Karnal, Haryana, Satinder Singh, r/o Village Bhuda Sahib, District SAS Nagar, Mohali, Moti r/o Village Neela Kherdi, District Karnal, Haryana and Akshay, r/o Village Laloni, PS Tarori, District Karnal.
Divulging the details, the SSP said that in the wee hours of Wednesday i.e. 30.04.2025, a Uttar Pradesh native Zia-ul-Haq had booked a taxi Hyundai Xcent car bearing registration number HR 67 C 1782 from Dera Bassi bus stand to Ambala railway station. "During the journey, he was robbed of Rs 20,600 cash, ATM card, mobile phone and important documents at gunpoint by four unidentified car-borne individuals including the taxi-driver near Jawahrapur chownk on the Chandigarh-Ambala National Highway. After the incident DIG Ropar Range Sh Harcharan Singh Bhullar IPS issued certain directions to trace the case at the earliest", said the SSP.
Providing operational details, the SSP further stated that FIR No. 111 dated 02.05.2025 under Sections 309(4), 140(3), 351(1), 351(3), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police station Dera Bassi and a special team under the supervision of SP (Rural) Manpreet Singh and DSP Dera Bassi Bikramjit Singh Brar was formed. "The team led by SHO Dera Bassi Inspector Sumit Mor collected key evidence from the crime scene and gathered inputs from the local sources which led to identification of all the four accused involved in the crime. Acting on human intelligence and technical inputs, the team tracked and arrested the four accused from Ramgarh Mubarakpur road, Dera Bassi in the evening, yesterday." said SSP.
Providing further insights, the SSP said that preliminary investigations has revealed that this inter-state gang was previously involved in numerous such incidents in the tricity. "The Modus operandi of the gang was to target immigrant workers belonging to UP-Bihar and rob them in the journey " added SSP.
"Today, accused Satinder was taken near Village Bhudha for recovery of a weapon. He sustained a fracture on his left ankle as he jumped from a roof top in a failed attempt to escape from police custody", said the SSP.
Further investigations to discover their linkages and associates are ongoing.
