
1210 children of Una district will be covered in the sponsorship program of Mission Vatsalya Yojana
Una, June 11 - Under the sponsorship program of Mission Vatsalya Yojana, 1210 eligible children up to the age of 18 years in Una district will be provided financial assistance of Rs 4,000 every month. These children were till now beneficiaries of Mother Teresa Asahaya Matri Sambal Yojana, in which they were being given financial assistance of Rs 500 per month by the government
Una, June 11 - Under the sponsorship program of Mission Vatsalya Yojana, 1210 eligible children up to the age of 18 years in Una district will be provided financial assistance of Rs 4,000 every month. These children were till now beneficiaries of Mother Teresa Asahaya Matri Sambal Yojana, in which they were being given financial assistance of Rs 500 per month by the government, but now it has been approved to cover them in the sponsorship program of Mission Vatsalya Yojana. In which Rs 4,000 will be provided to every child every month by the government. These cases were approved in the meeting of the District Level Sponsorship and Foster Care Approval Committee held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Executive Deputy Commissioner and Additional Deputy Commissioner Una Mahendra Pal Gurjar.

Along with this, to provide them opportunities to explore their full potential, provide assistance for development in every field, to establish such a sensitive, supportive and contemporary eco-system for them in which they can develop fully.
These are the criteria for eligibility in the sponsor program
The sponsor program of Mission Vatsalya Yojana covers children in cases where the mother is widowed or divorced or abandoned by the family or where the children are orphaned and living with the extended family. Apart from this, financial assistance is also given under this scheme to children where the parents are suffering from a life-threatening / critical illness, or the parents are incapacitated or financially and physically incapable of taking care of the children.
Additionally, children in need of care and protection as per the JJ Act, 2015, such as homeless, victims of any natural disaster, child labour, victims of child marriage, trafficked children, HIV/AIDS affected children, disabled children, missing or runaway children, child beggars or street dwellers, abused or tortured or exploited children in need of assistance and rehabilitation are covered under it. Children covered under the PM Cares for Children Scheme are also eligible for it.
In this program, financial assistance is provided to children till the age of 18 years.
90 lakh assistance in 2023-24
Mahendra Pal Gurjar said that earlier 189 cases were approved in Una district in the sponsor program of Mission Vatsalya Yojana. Now with the approval of 1210 new cases, the number of beneficiaries in the program has increased to 1399. Under this program in the district, assistance of about Rs 90 lakh has been provided in the year 2023-24.
Survey is being done for 100% coverage
ADC appealed to people to share information
Mahendra Pal Gurjar said that a survey is being conducted in Una district for 100% coverage of eligible children under the sponsorship program of Mission Vatsalya Yojana. In this, the cases left out of registration will be covered. He appealed to the people that if there are such children around them or any such case is in their mind, then share their information with the administration. District Child Protection Officer Kamaldeep along with committee members CWC Chairperson Meenakshi Rana, Prem Ashram Manager Neelam, Abhimanyu Kapoor, Mohit Mehta along with other government and non-government members were present in the meeting.
