In a move that will bring major changes to India's auto industry, the central government has announced a drastic phase-out of petrol and diesel vehicles from the country's roads over the next 10 years. Nitin Gadkari has repeated this again during an event.
Even before this, Gadkari, while addressing a public rally in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, said that India is working towards banning petrol and diesel vehicles by 2034. He reportedly said, ÷ I want to eliminate diesel and petrol vehicles from this country within 10 years. Now electric scooters, cars and buses have arrived. Where you spend Rs 100 on diesel, it consumes Rs 4 in electricity.
