Nawanshahr 30 August - Jamhoor Adhikar Sabha District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar has called for protest against the raids conducted by the National Investigation Agency on the houses of pro-people lawyers and democratic organizations in Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana and UP, calling it oppressive.
Secretary Jasbir Deep, District President Ashok Kumar and State Committee Member of District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Jamhoori Adhikar Sabha, Boota Singh Mahmood Pur, have protested against the raids conducted by the NIA team at the houses of Advocate Mandeep, Advocate Aarti and Advocate Ajay Kumar and the house of Punjab farmer leader Sukhwinder Kaur Rampura. He said that as a result, the house of Haryana's prominent democratic activist Advocate Pankaj Tyagi was raided and he was arrested and taken to Sonipat Police Station. In Allahabad, the room of Revolutionary Chhata Morcha President Devinder Azad was raided.
The leaders said that the BJP's central government is targeting every force that questions the anti-people policies of the government or that works for the interests of the people and attempts to change this undemocratic, authoritarian state. The NIA has been weaponised to terrorise the democratic opposition and suppress pro-democracy voices. We all have to take these dictatorial actions seriously.
He demanded that the NIA must be stopped from being used as a weapon against pro-people intellectuals, lawyers and democratic activists. The attack on the democratic right of citizens to protest, raise their voice and fight for their rights against the policies of the government must stop.
