Nawanshahr, July 27 - RTI activist Parvinder Singh Kitna has alleged that the grants worth lakhs of rupees of Martyr Bhagat Singh's Nanka village Moranwali and its adjoining village Kitna are lying unused. In the letter sent to the Chief Minister and other top officials, it is stated that these grants are not being utilized due to the illegal interference of the local leader of the ruling party by the officers/employees of the BDPO office Garhshankar. Some of the streets and drains at village Kittana are in such a bad condition that there is fear of spreading some disease or accident. Similarly, many works are left unfinished at village Moranwali.
Parvinder Singh Kitna has also written in the letter that earlier also he had to file a case in the Punjab and Haryana High Court due to such behavior of the BDPO office. After which some street works were done. The letter has demanded that the BDPO office should be instructed to spend the grants of these two villages to carry out the development work.
It has also been warned that if the works are not started within 15 days, then once again the honorable Punjab and Haryana High Court will be approached.
It is to be mentioned here that last year on the birthday of Shaheed Bhagat Singh on September 28, the Chief Minister announced at Khatkar Kalan. That the martyr's maternal village Moranwali will be made such that people will come from far and wide to see it. Now the condition of the roads and streets in the village is so bad that it is clear that this village is a victim of neglect by the government. It is also worth mentioning that in a function, the people of Moranwali village said in the presence of the MLA of Garhshankar that they are neither heard in the government offices nor are they heard by the MLA. On this, the constituency MLA allegedly used his political influence to suspend the Panchayat of Moranwali and installed an administrator there, and the administrator did not do any work despite repeated requests from the people.
