Democratic Teachers Front state president Vikramdev Singh, state general secretary Mukesh Kumar and finance secretary Ashwani Awasthi said that it is the constitutional right of the employees to go on strike as a protest against the unresolved demands. The government should negotiate with the Nehri Patwar Union and resolve their demands. They demanded the government to immediately withdraw the 'no work no pay' letter and pay canal patwaris without any deduction. The leaders said that the top official of the Punjab government is pressurizing canal patwaris to prepare wrong reports about the availability of water in the fields. Which the Patwar Union is constantly opposing. Due to this protest, the state president of Nehri Patwar Union, Jaskaran Singh, has also been suspended, which is a reprehensible action of the government.
Democratic Teachers Front leaders Sukhdev Dansiwal, Inder Sukhdeep Singh Udra, Manjit Singh Dasuha, Varinder Kumar, Ashni Kumar, Manjit Singh Baba, Harinder Singh, Karnail Singh Mahalpur, Ajay Kumar, Manjit Singh Banga, Vinay Kumar, Pradeep Singh, Baljit Singh, Resham Singh, Baljinder Singh, Ramesh Kumar Baga, Harvinder Singh and Parveen Kumar said that pressure is being put on canal patwaris to make wrong figures. This will damage Punjab's agriculture. The relevant senior official working in this department has been doing such arbitrary things in the education department itself.
For which the teachers' organizations fought on a large scale and made it run through the education department. The leaders have strongly opposed the authoritarian attitude adopted by the Punjab government towards the struggle of canal patwaris and advised them not to take decisions that kill the employees.
