On this occasion, Mr. Chaman Singh (Project Director) gave a speech in detail about the history of the Red Cross and told about the life of the founder of the Red Cross, Sir Henry, that he used to serve the wounded people by wearing bandages in the war, who helped humanity. established the Red Cross for the welfare of the people, while also giving detailed information about the activities of the Red Cross which go in favor of humanity. Addressing the nursing students, she said that you will also face similar challenges in life, which the nursing community has already accepted and learned from. He referred to the physical, social, economic and mental problems caused by the use of drugs and appealed to them to do their due contribution. He called the nursing staff the daughters and sons of Bhai Ghanai. This makes your contribution even more important. Drug addicts in the society, the youth are suffering from various diseases, affecting the people they come in contact with. This is the reason why the incidents of robbery, theft, rape, divorce, etc. are increasing day by day in the society. Today we should do our part to save humanity. He said International Nurses Day, an annual event held on May 12, commemorates the 1820 birth of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. The event, established in 1974 by the International Council of Nurses (ICN), also serves to highlight the important role played by nurses in healthcare.  On this occasion Mrs. Kamaljit Kaur (Councillor) while addressing the gathering informed the people about the facilities and activities of the center and said that we should take care of our children around us so that we can avoid the evils found in the society. Keep the body healthy with a balanced diet which will also keep the mind healthy and if any youth is caught in this drug like disease then he should be encouraged to join the center for treatment. He gave detailed information about the treatment of patients at the center.
On this occasion, Dr. Daljit Kaur while making the students aware about drug addiction said that we should be aware to avoid drug addiction which is life threatening. Drug use causes physical and mental illnesses. Which causes black jaundice, HIV, stomach diseases, liver diseases etc. That is why we should stay away from drug addicts. So that we can avoid this evil. He thanked the staff of Red Cross De-addiction Center Nawanshahr and assured them that they will be aware of addiction in the future as well and implement the suggestions given by the Red Cross team in their lives.
