The Deputy Commissioner said that the officials have been instructed to speed up the lifting work and so far 166387 metric tons of wheat have been lifted in the mandis, which is 65 percent in terms of 72 hours. He said that wheat is being purchased smoothly and uninterruptedly in all the 74 mandis of the district. He said that currently Pangrain is the leader in terms of procurement and 78572 metric tons of wheat has been procured so far. Similarly, 64710 metric tons of wheat has been purchased by Markfed, 69141 by Pansap, 40207 by Punjab State Warehouse Corporation, 23725 by FCI and 8425 metric tons by traders. The Deputy Commissioner said that one grain of wheat will be bought in the markets. He said that keeping in mind the convenience of the farmers, all the arrangements have been made in the mandis.
He appealed to the farmers and said that the crops should not be brought to the market after being completely dried and harvesting should not be done with combines at night. He appealed to the farmers to save the environment from pollution by not burning wheat waste and straw.
