Chandigarh, September 23 - Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana said that the land of Haryana has always been the land of heroes, be it the war of 1857, the Kargil war or the challenges within the country, the warriors of Haryana have always moved forward and served the country.

Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana said this while attending the Martyrdom Day function organized in Yamunanagar as the chief guest today. On this occasion, he offered flowers on the statue of immortal martyr Rao Tularam and planted saplings in the memory of the martyrs.
He said that our soldiers and paramilitary personnel not only fight on the borders but also stand as a shield for the countrymen in times of hardship, terrorist attacks and other crises, their sacrifice, discipline and dedication are a source of inspiration for all of us. We are committed to the respect and protection of their families.
Mr. Shyam Singh Rana said that a total of 418 dependents have been provided compassionate appointment to the families of our soldiers and paramilitary personnel since 2014. The Haryana Government has increased the ex-gratia amount for soldiers and paramilitary personnel who are martyred in war from Rs. 50 lakhs to Rs. 1 crore. The Haryana Government has increased the ex-gratia amount for fire fighters who are martyred in war to Rs. 1 crore.
The Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister said that we should thank our brave soldiers who have served the country with courage, honor and discipline. Their sacrifice is the foundation of peace and progress of our country. Today we are celebrating Haryana Veer Shaheedi Diwas in memory of Rao Tularam Ji, the hero of the first freedom struggle of 1857, who was a Rewari princely state.
Soldiers and paramilitary forces from 7 districts of Haryana Panchkula, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Panipat participated in this program. The Cabinet Minister announced to give Rs. 5 lakh to DAV Glass College for organizing the program.
