Chandigarh:- In the olden days, betrayal in love was also considered a big crime in the world of lovers. But now the news of murder in love has also started coming to the fore. In a shocking murder case related to this, a 72-year-old American citizen, Rupinder Kaur Pandher, was allegedly murdered in Qila Raipur village near Ludhiana in Punjab.
Rupinder had come from Seattle to marry a 75-year-old UK-based NRI.
According to the police, the murder was part of a well-planned conspiracy, the main conspirator of which was the woman’s groom-to-be, Charanjit Singh Grewal. He originally belongs to the village of Mahima Singh Wala, but now lives in England.
Grewal had allegedly offered his associate Sukhjit Singh Sonu Rs 50 lakh to carry out the murder. After which a conspiracy was hatched to carry out the murder
Police say Sonu confessed to killing Rupinder Kaur on the night of July 12-13 and trying to destroy the evidence by burning her body with diesel in the store room of his house. He then allegedly cooled the remains (parts of the skeleton) with water and dumped them in a drain in nearby Lehra village. Investigators have recovered the partial skeleton parts for forensic examination.
Case came to light after no contact with sister
The crime came to light on July 28, when Rupinder Kaur's sister Kamal Kaur Khaira filed a missing person report after losing contact with her. An information about Sonu's custody by Dehlon police led to the investigation into the case.
Police revealed that Rupinder Kaur was invited to India under the false promise of marriage. During this time, he transferred large sums of money to bank accounts linked to Sonu and his brother. It is now believed that money may have been the main motive for the murder.
