
Orientation Program Organized at PUSS GRC, Hoshiarpur
Hoshiarpur:- The Orientation Program for newly admitted students was successfully organized by the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) and Department of Computer Science and Applications (DCSA) of Panjab University SSG Regional Centre, Hoshiarpur on 12th September 2025 at the Campus Auditorium.

Shri Vijay Kumar Janjua, IAS (Retd) – Present Chief Commissioner, Punjab Transparency and Accountability Commission was present as the Chief Guest. The event started with the anthem of Panjab University, after which Dr. Manu Dogra (Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering, UIET) gave information about the campus and academic environment.
Dr. Gurinder Singh (Associate Professor, Physics) familiarized the students with the academic schedule and research activities. Lt. Rahul Jassal, Coordinator (DCSA) gave an overview of the MCA programme and highlighted the importance of other departmental initiatives including NCC.
Dr. Varjesh Sharma (System Manager and Training and Placement Officer) shared information about the institution’s strong placement record and the presence of alumni globally.
Director Prof. (Dr.) H. S. Bains welcomed the chief guest and motivated the students to remain focused, disciplined and socially responsible. In his address, Shri Janjua stressed on the importance of hard work, clarity of concepts and practical application of knowledge. He encouraged the youth to contribute to nation-building, remain confident and pursue studies with a passion for excellence.
He described India as the fourth largest economy in the world and shared information about technological applications of Quantum Mechanics such as Flash Memory. Echoing the words of John F. Kennedy, he said: “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.”
