Teams led by Superintendent of Police (Rural) Manpreet Singh, Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Saurav Jindal, and Superintendent of Police (Operations) Talwinder Singh Gill, along with DSP Derabassi Bikramjit Singh Brar, arrested two individuals involved in a firing incident at Aman Hotel, Gulabgarh Road, Derabassi, on the night of September 1, 2025, with the intent to extort money. The police recovered two pistols, four magazines, and a Honda Activa used in the crime.
Providing details of the incident, SSP Harmandeep Hans stated that on September 1, 2025, a firing incident occurred around 2 a.m. at Aman Hotel, Gulabgarh Road, Derabassi. Acting promptly, the Derabassi police registered a case (FIR No. 250, dated 01-09-2025) under Section 308(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 25 of the Arms Act, based on the statement of the hotel owner, Karan Kumar, son of Roshan Lal, resident of Rosewood Estate, GBP Road, Gulabgarh.
Considering the seriousness of the firing incident, the SSP formed separate teams comprising local police, the In-Charge of the Anti-Narcotics Cell, SAS Nagar, Mubarakpur, and the In-Charge of the Special Cell, Mohali.
These teams, under the supervision of SP (Investigation), SP (Operations), and DSP Derabassi, were assigned specific responsibilities. The teams conducted a thorough inspection of the crime scene, examined available evidence, and proceeded with the investigation using scientific methods.
By leveraging technical and electronic tools, additional evidence was collected and cross-referenced with information from the local intelligence network. Through this combined approach, the police traced the crime within eight days and arrested the two accused involved in the incident.
SSP Harmandeep Hans further revealed that since the day of the incident, teams from the Anti-Narcotics Cell and Special Cell, Mohali, conducted a scientific investigation and carried out covert operations in the Mohali area, identifying the gang operating from villages Bakarpur and Matran, under the Aerosity police station. As soon as the police began raids in these areas, the accused fled their hideouts.
However, after a chase, Navjot Singh alias Sainty, son of Gurmukh Singh, resident of village Matran, Aerosity police station, who was driving the Honda Activa during the crime, was arrested on September 7, 2025, from Mauli, Sector 80, Mohali.
The other accused, Amandeep Singh alias Amna, son of Jaswant Singh, resident of village Patto, Sohana police station, who carried out the firing, was arrested on September 8, 2025, from Sultanpur near Barwala. Based on their disclosures, the police recovered two 7.65 mm pistols, four magazines, and the Honda Activa used in the crime. One accomplice, Aniket Singh, son of Balkar Singh, resident of village Bakarpur, remains absconding, and a search is ongoing to apprehend him.
SSP Harmandeep Hans added that the accused Navjot Singh alias Sainty is a drug addict. Both accused have prior criminal cases registered against them and were out on bail. Amandeep Singh alias Amna had shaved his beard and cut his hair before the crime to avoid identification.
During the investigation, it was revealed that some time ago, an unidentified person had made a threatening call from an international number demanding extortion money from the Aman Hotel owners, which they ignored, continuing their business without concern. However, the firing incident created fear among them. The Mohali police resolved the case within eight days, instilling confidence among the public.
