The passing away of Shri Ram Arsh is a big loss for Punjabi literature - Sandhu Varyanvi, Jagdish Rana

Poet Siri Ram Ji, a representative of the literary heritage of Punjab, has passed away physically this morning. His last rites were performed in Mohali. Shri Ram Arsh, who did great work for the establishment of Punjabi Ghazal, was born on 15 December 1934 in Ludhiana. He retired as Deputy Director from the Punjab Public Relations Department in 1992.

Shri Ram Arsh, who did great work for the establishment of Punjabi Ghazal, was born on 15 December 1934 in Ludhiana. He retired as Deputy Director from the Punjab Public Relations Department in 1992.
Expressing deep sorrow over his demise, Public Secretary of Central Punjabi Writers' Association Sekhon Prof. Sandhu Varyanvi and Office Secretary Lok Shayar Jagdish Rana said that Siri Ram Arsh was a pillar ghazal writer of Punjabi literature. 
With his passing, the family as well as Punjabi literature has suffered an irreparable loss. They said that Siri Ram Arsh, following in the footsteps of his elder brother former MLA Chaudhary Ajit Kumar, continued to raise the voice of the oppressed, downtrodden and needy class throughout his life.
He had a special place in Punjabi ghazal writing. His writings include Rabab (Ghazal Collection -1975)

On the demise of Shri Ram Arsh, who was honored as a Shiromani Punjabi poet by the Language Department Punjab, the President of Sahitya Kala and Sahaybarak Manch, Dr. Kanwal Bhalla, President of Punjab Sahitya Manch, Kulwinder Gakhal, Vice President of Doaba Sahitya Sabha Ladhana Jhikka, Gurdeep Singh Saini, President of Kalam Di Parwaz, Jaswinder Singh Jassi, President of Adbi Duniya Jalandhar, Jagdish Dalia, Chairman of New Chetna Punjabi Lekhak Manch, Makhan Luhar, and other writers Amarjit Singh Sandhu, Makhan Mann, Bhagwant Rasulpuri, Nakash Chittewani, Mitra Manjit, Resham Chitrakar, Des Raj Bali, Charanjit Samalsar, Mala Aggarwal, Satpal Sahlon, Pawan Bhamian, Savinder Sandhu, Prof. Akvir Kaur, Shami Jalandhari, Dadar Pandorvi, Kesar Karamjit, Gurmukh Luhar, Gurnam Bawa, etc. expressed deep sorrow.
